I walked around by the water for awhile yesterday. Afterward I had the thought that it was a nice escape from reality, and was immediately disturbed by what that implied. How is it that spending time with nature, with the earth we live on, can be considered escaping reality? What kind of reality have we created for ourselves? This seems to be true when we go on vacation, too, and reminds me of this Seth Godin quote: “Instead of wondering when your next vacation is, maybe you should set up a life you don’t need to escape from.”
I spent years creating such a life, and wouldn't normally need a "break from reality" but I've been caught up in many projects and have been working way too much. It was a good reminder to not let go of the progress I've made in creating my life the way I want it.
You can create your ideal reality by only making choices that are aligned with who you really are.
